Jack Clark Tells the IMF the Window to Act Is Short
Anthropic’s co-founder points to limits on “the ceiling of intelligence” and “a small number of years.”
Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark went on record at the IMF about putting a ceiling on AI intelligence.
Moderator Raghuram Rajan, the IMF’s former chief economist, asked at what point humans hand AI the reins, The Rundown AI reports.
Clark answered: “Our CEO Dario Amodei said in a public post that we may want to introduce limits on the ceiling of intelligence that you allow for these systems.”
He called it a conversation “that is maybe a little at the edge of the Overton window.”
“The window for us to act is a small number of years.”
“We’re in control of this technology now, and we’re watching it get much more capable, much more quickly than all of our intuitions,” Clark said.
The Rundown AI led its Tuesday roundup with “Anthropic co-founder says the singularity is underway.” The same list included “One hacker’s AI agents break into 100+ companies” and ChatGPT’s new voices with GPT-Live-1.1.
