Anthropic Previews Claude Duet, a Proactive Agent App

Anthropic is opening a research preview of Claude Duet, a new app where Claude works as a proactive agent. @claudeai says it comes to you with what needs your attention and completes tasks you ask of it. It keeps working when you step away, and checks with you before it acts on your behalf.

Duet is an early research preview, available through a waitlist on Pro and Max plans in the US. “It can still misjudge what’s urgent,” Anthropic says, and it will keep tuning it based on what early users tell it. @TheRundownAI reports it is powered by Opus 5.5. @addyosmani says it runs on Opus 5.5 across 6,000 connectors and plugins.

Who is it for?

@kimmonismus didn’t expect it. He describes Duet as a proactive assistant, like Grokbot, dot and Meta Muse, that works in the background, manages tasks across connected apps and asks for approval before sensitive actions. His question is the target group: the blog post looks consumer-oriented, he says, while Anthropic makes by far the most revenue via API in business and enterprise.

@MiaAI_lab calls it “Anthropic’s answer to Grok @bot,” and notes it is waitlist only and US only for now.

@clairevo tested it, then forgot it.

@clairevo added Duet to her personal agent stack and posted a review on YouTube. Her tl;dr scores design best (“no notes, v mindful, v demure”), with clean onboarding and good models. She likes that it connects with her other tools, the artifacts on mobile and the channel concept.

The minuses: good design but poor use of personalization, since a sales channel she created asked her what the channel was for. Then two double minuses: “SLOW” and “I forgot it.”
