@levelsio Wants Wes Bos’s Room-to-3D-Model Workflow
A LiDAR scan, hundreds of photos, and a skill that models a room object by object.
“I have to do this.”
That was @levelsio’s reaction to a post from @wesbos, who says he has discovered the best way to get 3D modeling results from LLMs.
Bos’s app LiDAR-scans the room while taking hundreds of high quality photos. Then a workflow and skill he created models out every item, recursively checking the model against the photo at the exact spot and angle where the photo was captured. The result, Bos says, is a dimensionally accurate and high quality model of your room. He walks through it in his latest video.
Why it is different, in @levelsio’s view.
Replying to a follower, @levelsio says he has 3D scanned a lot the last few years with Matterport and then iPhone, and it is always a total mess of objects made of triangles. “Everything is one big fat object,” he writes. “What this does I think is actually build the room object by object.”
