NVIDIA’s European Tour Ends With $250 Million for UK Agent Safety

Paris, London, Stockholm and Berlin ahead of GTC Berlin, as told by @kimmonismus.

NVIDIA committed $250 million in compute over five years to UK agent safety research.

@kimmonismus joined NVIDIA to follow Jensen Huang to events across Europe leading up to GTC Berlin, which starts next week. The route ran Paris, London, Stockholm, Berlin. He also recorded an interview with Huang.

StopWhat was announced
ParisPlanned investments in Doctolib, Entalpic, Genesis AI and Pigment; Bull’s planned European production of Vera Rubin Ultra systems from 2028; a sovereign AI platform for banks with SBS; an open-source working group with Fondation Inria
LondonCompute access valued at $250 million over five years for UK research on agent safety and security
StockholmExpanded Volvo Cars partnership for automated driving (collaboration since 2017); launch of Sferical One, a shared AI supercomputer backed by Ericsson, AstraZeneca, Saab and SEB
BerlinExtended Mercedes-Benz partnership on driver assistance and automated driving; RTX Spark launch event
As recounted in @kimmonismus’s thread.

In London, Huang argued that the UK needs to build across every layer of AI. “AI is not just the model,” he said, and “AI safety is in our control.” He also challenged Britain’s attitude toward entrepreneurial risk and failure.

In Stockholm, Huang joined Spotify co-founder Daniel Ek to discuss Europe’s AI future and open models. Ek on the pace of progress: “I never thought I’d experience it at this pace.”

@kimmonismus’s takeaway: more ambition, with safety as engineering.

Europe should be much more ambitious about building AI businesses, he writes, “while treating safety as practical engineering work that helps those businesses deploy.” In Berlin he asked Huang what Germany needs to do, and how Open Shell helps with AI safety.
