DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 Goes Free in OpenCode

OpenCode Go and Free switch to the 1017 weights; early tests of @MiaAI_lab’s EAQ quant look promising.

The newest DeepSeek Flash weights now cost OpenCode users nothing.

“DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 is FREE in OpenCode,” @MiaAI_lab posted. She quoted OpenCode’s notice: “DeepSeek V4.1 Flash updated to 1017 in OpenCode Go and Free. No changes needed on your end.”

Early quant results favor the older weights.

@easthambuilds compared three public 2.9 bpw EXL3 quants of DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash on the same engine: 2× DGX Spark, TP2, MTP on. “The surprise,” he wrote, is that @MiaAI_lab’s quant of the original V4.1 matches or beats both quants of the newer 1017 weights on quality.

@MiaAI_lab says early feedback on the DeepSeek v4.1 Flash EAQ-EXL3 looks promising. “This is really an alpha release,” she wrote. “The real EAQ is being worked on, every-single-minute of the day.”

In replies she called it “an early version of EAQ” with a new quant already in the works. She told users an update that should fix some reported issues is coming soon.

This edition’s Models section also carries her recipe for running DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 on two DGX Sparks at 512K context.
