Agents That Coordinate, and Agents That Create
Gemini 4 agents beat Minecraft; Fable 5.1 builds Borges in 3D.
Wharton professor Ethan Mollick flagged two very different demonstrations of what current AI agents can do.
First, he recommended the paper on how a team of Gemini 4 agents beat Minecraft. He called it an accessible example (“partially because it is AI written”) of spontaneous coordination among agents working toward a complicated goal, and of how their approach differs from the way humans play.
Second, he gave Fable 5.1 an open-ended creative brief: implement Borges’s short stories in 3D, make them creative and beautiful, and help people understand the point of each story. He noted he had to tell the model it was okay to quote Borges. He called the results “some neat stuff” and published them for readers to play.
